Apprenticeships start here
Bedford College is getting 100s of employers
talking about apprenticeships - as part of its Apprenticeship Week
activity (Monday Feb 6th - 10th).
A countdown of events is being promoted across
the social media spectrum from the platform of Bedford.ac.uk
Monday: Live on-line Q
& A with the college’s expert team of apprenticeship
advisors
Tuesday: CV with
sparkle - how to make sure your written application hits the right
note with your potential employer.
Wednesday: The employer’s
viewpoint video with an employer of apprentices talking about what
HE wants from his young trainees. David Lambert Pronto Plumber,
Great Barford, is the star of this show (he has recently featured
on TV ads for a brand of boiler and is a Beds on Sunday
blogger)
Thursday: Apprenticeship
Blind Date with another key employer of apprentices: Kerry Cash of
5th Avenue, Bedford, asks “candidates” questions to show how
personality and appearances count towards first impressions. A
lorra, lorra fun.
Friday: Bedford College’s
Mary Palmer talks to the Beacon Business Breakfast at the Bedford
Swan Hotel to help spread the word about apprenticeships.
Later that day a series of interactive
workshops in the construction unit will bring 25 young people face
to face with ten employers to talk about job prospects and
expectations in the industry.
Over in Milton Keynes at the Bedford College
Apprenticeship Academy, which was officially launched in
January, the team will be promoting their special brand of
AAT accountancy and NITP IT
apprenticeships. The Bedford College campus in Cauldwell Street
includes a
Bedford NITP centre which has been successfully placing young
people in jobs for several years.
